Businesses Concerned About COVID-19 Litigation - Immunity for Essential Businesses

Recently, North Carolina passed the COVID-19 Recovery Act. Under the new act businesses that were deemed essential by North Carolina Department of Revenue (NCDOR) were immune from liability on claims: made by a customer or employee, for injuries or death, allegedly caused by contracting COVID-19 while doing business, or employed by, an essential business, and took place between March 27 2020, and when the Executive Order declaring a state of emergency is rescinded or expires.
